Thanasi Kokkinakis goes unanswered in the match-winning game and cleans up Miomor Kecmanovic in the final set to win it 6-3, 7-6, 6-1 in Adelaide.

At face value, the 6-1 win might have looked like plain sailing for the hometown hero. It was anything but!

The penultimate match is a dramatic one lasting 14 minutes and 11 seconds after the pair traded points.

After finally taking it, Kokkinakis blitzes the last game to win it and go through to the semi-finals at Adelaide International 2.

“The dream is alive,” says Josh Eagle.

“He played a wonderful match tonight. Barely put a foot wrong.

”Well, this young man, showed us why he is a top 30 ranked player and a man on the up.

“He’ll enjoy this win tonight, because it wasn’t easy in the end.

“The first set and a half he was in absolute control. A fast start. Got pushed to a second set tiebreak where things just didn’t go his way, but he continued to back himself, serve huge, rip forehands, and boy oh boy is he playing some impressive tennis.”

Kokkinakis will face Roberto Bautista Agut in the semi-final on Friday, the fourth seed.
